Cashmere

Soft and weightless

We believe that wearing cashmere is a form of self-love. Even better — it’s like treating yourself for no reason at all.

When we first introduced cashmere jumpers in 2017, they quickly became customer favourites. This positive response encouraged us to expand our cashmere collection, which now includes lightweight turtlenecks, oversized jumpers, trousers, matching sets, shirts, and coats made from pure or blended cashmere. Season after season, we refine their production to bring you the finest cashmere garments.

The jumper’s odyssey

Let's travel 6000 kilometers eastward to Inner Mongolia, a region in northern China. There, on the pastures that freeze under icy winds in winter and turn lush green with grass in spring, graze cashmere goats.

When the time comes, they are meticulously combed by hand to collect their cashmere fleece. This fleece is then sorted, cleaned, and washed — leaving behind about half of the fibers — which are then dyed and spun into weightless cashmere threads. These threads are knitted into a jumper, which eventually finds its way into our store and, finally, onto the shelf in your wardrobe.

Quite an intricate process, isn't it? Here's more: it takes the fleece from six goats to create just one of our jumpers. These goats are combed only once a year once their undercoat becomes especially long and dense.

Caring for the goats

Amusingly, this is the most critical factor for cashmere quality. It's not just about their diet but also their overall well-being. The more care they receive, the softer and lighter the fleece becomes.

Our suppliers oversee every stage of production, from raising cashmere goats to knitting the garments. These factories are certified by RWS (The Responsible Wool Standard) and The Good Cashmere Standard which ensure the ethical treatment of animals.

Understanding the role of bamboo

Cashmere is highly sensitive, with factors like temperature and humidity during production significantly impacting its quality. Unfortunately, some factories overlook these crucial details.

During one of our visits to a production facility, we noticed that the floor was covered with bamboo. Surprisingly, this is essential for maintaining the right humidity levels indoors, ensuring that cashmere remains soft. It goes without saying that we decided to partner with them. Such attention to detail, while being one of our top priorities, is rare to find in conventional factories.

Cashmere is rare and precious, like diamonds, saffron, and free tables on a terrace during a warm Friday evening. Truly high-quality cashmere, crafted with the utmost care, is rare to the power of two.

Thinner than hair

Cashmere fibres are about six times thinner than human hair. It's almost like a ray of sunshine — perhaps that's why cashmere garments are so warm?

The thinner and longer the cashmere fibres, the softer and more lasting the garments become: they pill less and become more supple. These garments strike a perfect balance: warm yet light, unlike typical winter wear.

100% cashmere

We discovered this yarn at Pitti Immagine Filati, the leading international exhibition in Florence, and fell in love with it at first sight. The esteemed Chinese factory, Consinee, produces cashmere using Italian technology and works with Chanel, Hermes, Burberry, and Hugo Boss. This cashmere is incredibly soft and almost weightless: its fibre diameter is only 15.5 microns, which is 2.5 times thinner than the smallest object visible to the naked eye.

From this yarn, we knit delicate and lightweight jumpers and turtlenecks that you don't just wear — you immerse yourself in them. Using four strands knitted together, we create our bestselling jumpers: oversized and dense, yet weighing only 530 grams.

50% cashmere, 50% merino wool

Determining the quality of cashmere requires expertise that goes beyond tactile tests; it involves testing materials in specialised laboratories. We evaluate our yarn at its place of origin in China. However, our quality assessment doesn't stop at lab tests.

For instance, when sourcing samples for our jumpers made from cashmere and merino wool, we ordered samples from various factories. Initially, we evaluated them based on a quality checklist, and then several team members put the jumpers through real-life test drives. Some even intentionally wore cashmere under denim — a tough durability test.

After a few weeks, we compared the results and selected the yarn by Moro — a supplier favoured by Burberry, Theory, and Givenchy. The factory where we produce our garments also works with Max Mara.

30% cashmere, 70% merino wool

We've always wanted to create a roomy, substantial yet soft like a hug jumper. It needed to strike a balance: not too fluffy or heavy. We found the perfect yarn from our cashmere supplier, Consinee factory.

Two-thirds of the yarn is merino wool from fine-wooled sheep, with fibres closely matching cashmere in weight and diameter. The remaining third is cashmere from Inner Mongolia. To achieve the desired density, we knit this yarn using four strands — every garment made from it feels like wrapping oneself in a warm and lightweight blanket.

10% cashmere 90% merino wool

We use this yarn for lightweight basic jumpers, turtlenecks, and sets — versatile pieces that will easily become the foundation of your wardrobe. Many of these designs have become customer favourites and have been repeated several times, improving with each season.

In our Autumn 2023 collection, we aimed to make them even more practical and lasting. We found a new yarn with the same composition that meets these criteria. It matches the previous yarn in terms of lightness and softness but pills less, which is a significant advantage for garments frequently worn under outerwear.

With the right care, you'll ensure a long and happy life for your cashmere. However, each item requires a unique approach. We've created two care guides: one for lightweight and the other for dense, heavier cashmere.
