Linen Care Guide
We love linen for its natural beauty and breathability. These simple recommendations will help preserve its best qualities for years.
-
Nubby texture and irregular thread width are natural features of linen that distinguish pure linen from its blends with synthetic fibres.
-
Before the wash, check the care label instructions. If it can be washed, turn the garment inside out and close all zips. Choose laundry detergents free of bleach, surfactants, anionic phosphates, and dyes. Do not rub the stains.
-
Choose a delicate cycle, 30°C/86°F, and 600 rpm for machine washing. Make sure the drum is only half full to prevent the garment from wrinkling.
-
After the wash, shake out the garment and spread it to dry.
-
Over time, the shade of the linen garment may become less vibrant or uneven — this happens because natural fabrics tend to lose colour more quickly.
-
Iron linen while the garment is still damp at 150°C/300°F on a steam setting. Turn off the steam for garments that require dry cleaning: this will help keep the lining in place.
- Make sure linen fits you a little loosely. This will prevent it from tearing at the seams.
