Shirt Care Guide
We’ve put together this guide to make caring for your new shirt simple. You’ll find easy-to-follow instructions on washing, ironing, and storing your shirt to ensure it lasts through many seasons.
- Before washing, check the label to ensure the shirt is machine washable. Fasten all buttons and turn the shirt inside out.
- Use a delicate cycle and set the temperature according to the care label. To avoid creases, load the washing machine drum no more than halfway.
- Use detergents free from bleach, surfactants, anionic phosphates, and dyes.
- Avoid scrubbing stains vigorously or applying detergent directly to the fabric: this can cause white spots or damage. For tough stains, consider professional dry cleaning.
- After washing, gently shake the shirt and hang it to dry on a hanger, keeping. Avoid over-drying to make ironing easier.
- Set your iron according to the care label: one dot for up to 110°C without steam, and two dots for up to 150°C with steam.
- Start ironing the collar — first the collar stand, then the collar itself, while lying it flat on the ironing board. To avoid creases on the sleeves, use a rolled towel or a sleeve board, or iron the sleeves along the edge of the board. Carefully press the placket between the buttons with the tip of the iron.
- Slightly stretch the seams as they may shrink after washing.
- Natural fibres can wrinkle easily, so we recommend storing your shirt buttoned and hanging it on a hanger in a spacious wardrobe.
